Summary: The Sony HDR CX 290 is a keeper. A keeper that is if certain functions are not a must. There is no Wi Fi and no touch screen on this model. But if you need a camcorder you can rely on making your videos look great, this one Rocks. Beautiful HD Videos, and a good camera snap shooter to boot. I've taken videos indoors and out, nature hiking and in the evening. Always came out. Intelligent Auto works well and focus is sharp and fast.
Summary: It is a nice small light weight camera. But I had a hard time with the small buttons and trying to figure out how to review and watch what I shot. I guess I need a very easy thing for my age group.
Summary: The video quality is great when set at a higher definition. Did not like that when you use that setting you can only view it using a special program. After some technical issues my husband got it to download.
Pros: The video quality
Cons: Complicated to download; needs a special program to download
Summary: I was looking for a second camcorder for my amateur production company. This is a great camera for a beginner. Very cost effective. Great battery life. 8GB of ram on the camera. Not bad if you're looking to start your videography! Sony brands are the way to go.
Summary: Very good camera for the money. I really like the photo when connected to my tv. The only thing is that using the menu takes some practice. Very smooth zoom, good stabilization, very good mic, and nice built in memory.
Pros: Very good photo even when hdmi cabled to a 56" TV
Cons: Menus can be a little hard to navigate but takes practic
