Summary: Beautiful camera they don't make them as these anymore. I bought it because I was looking for a good hi8 camera and this model caught my eye because of the printing function. It doesn't really add much functionality and probably adds innecesary weight but it is a cool feature. The night shot mode is really cool and you'll probably use it a lot. Some great things about this product is the manual focus ring and the giant lcd screen and color viewfinder.
Summary: The camcorder works as describe, although I find when I rewind or fast forward the motor seems a bit noisy. My major negative comment is the cigarette smell..I hope I can get rid of the smell.
Summary: I have owned this camera for three years and it takes wonderful sharp images, but have never used the printer function.as far as weight my uncle has the model down the Dcr-Trv 520 and its not really any lighter that i can tell without the printer function. It has operated without any problems and i bought it used.I would stand it up against any high end camera (not High Def)and i don't think you will find more vibrant colors and sharpness in picture quality P.S The DCR-TRV...
Summary: I have owned three of these 8mm tape cameras and always have intermittent failures with them. They are a poor investment. Do not buy one, especially used. Get one of the newer models with hard drives.
Summary: I love this camera. I used to have DCR TRV350 and I gave it to my brother. I have a lots of digital 8MM tapes and I transfer to DVD. This camera better than HDD camera because I can change the tape. Hdd camera can't. picture quality so good and easy to transfer to DVD. Big screen 4" so good.
Summary: I needed a backup for a similar camcorder. This is the top-of-the-line unit and I am very pleased with my purchase. It will allow me to continue movie-making using historical family digital and analog 8mm tapes even if my original camcorder bites the dust. If I could redo this purchase, I would opt for a unit without the printer capability. It adds weight without real functionality, for me.
Summary: I owned this same model several years ago when it first came out. Unfortunately it was stolen when my house was burglarized. I like the high quality video it allows me to record. I also like the camera features. It has a built in printer which is not a necessity but it is an enjoyable feature. It offers all of the features that normally come on Sony high end products, like night shooting, vibration reduction, color viewfinder, and larger LCD screen.
Summary: Good things about this camcorder: 1. The 25X zoom 2. HUGE LCD screen 3. Great video and sound quality 4. Solid build 5. Easy connection to computer with iLink--especially with a Sony VAIO computer 6. Enough special effects and super nightshot. The bad things: 1. It is very heavy and big 2.
Summary: great overall camcorder. you have to love the 25x zoom. easy to use. i've gone through just about all the features with only two trips to the manual. the grandparents loved being able to get print out pictures of their new grandson instantly during our last visit.
