Great camera for the specialized purpose we bought it for.
7 November 2012
Summary: Exactly as advertised by seller. We use the camera to play Digital8 tapes into one of our editing computers. It works perfectly for this purpose. I've also shot some footage just to see how the recording end of the camera worked and found it to be what I'd expect from the TRV530 -- good clean footage for a camera this old.
Summary: The camera worked for two short (15 min) clips, then it started giving me an error indicating it was at the end of the tape even though it was closer to the beginning of a new tape. This is the last time I will purchase a used device from Ebay.
Summary: I've had one of these for years. Mostly, I use it for stills of my dogs & horses. I video them, then run the playback, frequently frame by frame, creating still(s) of the best frame(s). I also use it this way to analyze a student riding, or a horse moving, and by creating a still for each frame can really see what is happening even better than slow motion. I also get much better pictures than I have ever been able to get with a still camera.
Summary: All in one best handycam with Hi8 technology, it plays back and records even in dark with light and night shot option, this camcorder can work for years and have 20x optical zoom. Sony ccd-trv138 is best camcorder in years. It is best buy.
Summary: hi all all good this time , i bought one about a year ago and i should of said something when the sony dcr trv 530 got to me two week later and a piece of plastic was loose in the tape chamber area , it worked for a week and then ate tapes and didn't load and eject . so i got a good one this time , the other was from a police sale and the people were careless with this instrument. so now i know , the 530 is a reverse tech hi-8 to digital unit.
Summary: This review would hold true for both the TRV330 and the TRV530. LCD size is the "Only" difference. I bought one of these (along with a TRV830)to transfer my old 8mm to DVD, and also to play my 8mm back on my TV. These Digital 8"s do a better playback job then the original 8mm cameras they where recorded on. What I didn't realize was that it made great video too. Good to have around if you need a back up real quick.
Summary: I FIRST PURCHASED ONE JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO TRY ONE. VIDEOS AND SOUND ARE SUPERB BUT IT WAS A BAD DESIGN FOR TRIPOD USE. IT TAKES SOME TIME IF YOU HAVE TO CHANGE TAPES IN THE MIDDLE OF WHAT YOU ARE TAPING BECAUSE OF LOADING FROM THE BOTTOM SO, I AM TRYING TO GET ANOTHER ONE FOR THAT REASON.
Summary: I already have a DCR TRV740 Sony camcorder and wanted another so with two cameras I could keep taping while changing tape in the other one. I chose this one because it also uses 8mm video tape and the same batteries that I already have. I think this it the top camera Sony made for 8mm video tape. It has more features than the TRV740. The 25x optical zoom it outstanding.
