Summary: I regularly visit the narrow-gauge steam-operated railways in what was East Germany and having taken more than enough still photos decided I would try my hand at video, something about which I knew almost nothing. I bought this item based on the package deal on offer (camcorder, case, tapes, batteries, CD with editing programme) and because Sony things seem reliable.
Excerpt: "...caught my eye was the Sony Handycam, model number DCR-TRV270E. There were a number of reasons why I chose this particular model; one of which is that Sony is a reputable company and one of the leaders in camera equipment and my other reasons will be identified throughout this review. == Why did I chose this particular model? == I’m somewhat of a novice when it comes to camera equipment and I need something that is fairly straightforward and ...
Excerpt: "It's camera with good filming qualities (good image quality - night or day ) and a reasonable zoom. I enjoy its Easy feature, I think it's safer for the more distracted camera operator and it also simplifies the use. Its transport strap is low-efficient, it should be in the top side of the camera, for a more safe and functional use. And God forbid that you drop it! Only from half a metre from from the floor you can get a sensitive part in the inside ...
Pros: Easy to use feature, Night vision
Cons: Too heavy, the transport strap is not practical, tape recording
Excerpt: "The Sony Handycam DCR TRV270, a Digital8 model (a combination of the Hi8 analogue tape and the digital codec), achieves a perfect balance between high quality and affordability. Not only is this superb video-camera highly functional, boasting an impressive array of different features, its sleek and sexy look makes it a unique and attractive choice. While it is by no means a suitable option for the seasoned professional, it is ideal for the amateur ...
Pros: Great audio and visual quality, affordable, lots of features, brilliant zoom
Excerpt: Cassette will not load and constantly warns that cassette must be reloaded. Also black lines appeared on playback. As it costs as much to repair as camera cost and camera only 18 months old i was not too happy.
Summary: sony have done it again, this is a high quality camcorder at a very affordable price, i found it very easy to use i would almost say fool proof, its not as compact as the dv's but is well made and does have that air of quality about it, lets face it its a cheap camcorder and therefore has to cover the basics which it does extremely well, but i personally feel that it offers a value for money that is hard to beat. So i give it 5 stars why?
go anywhere else, but for the price this is excellent

Excerpt: "...your footage and pictures. This sony handycam consists of an optical zoom that allows you to zoom in on nearly anything. The only problem when zooming very close to objects, is that the picture becomes, slightly fuzzy but not easily recognised when you playback. Apart from that this camera contains picture options such as sepia, black and white and so many more. These options really do allow you to enhance your film/pictures. The battery on this camera ...
