Summary: The camera was and still is a high end camera. The actions are crisp, zoo is smooth, viewfinder screen is clear. One of the outstanding features is the ability to take 0 lux pictures. Experts tell me that the night capabilities exceed Sony's current technology.
Summary: Here are the reasons why I bought this video camera. Its a Sony, its built well, I am familiar with this type of camera and its easy to work with.I like the fact that it has a microphone jack,This is great if another mic is needed. I also that it has zero lux, which is better for lower light settings. To finish up this camera has really good picture quality and you can get alot of use out of this camera.
Summary: BOUGHT THIS NEW IN 2000 FOR $1600. I GOT IT WET IN 2006 IN THE OCEAN. NOW I FINALLY FOUND IT ON EBAY FOR $180. ITS THE BEST MINI DV CAMERA OUT THERE. GREAT LENSES FOR CLEAR CRISP PICTUR QUALITY. VIBRATION REDUCTION IS AWESOME AND THE BIG COLOR SCREEN. O LUX FEATURE IS FANTASTIC.
Summary: I chose this video camera because I already own one that I enjoy. It is starting to show signs of wear because I use it so much. I looked at newer models in retail stores, but none of the newer models that I could afford had all of the same features. I chose to purchase a gently used one, as backup, for the time when mine totally fails.
Summary: This is my second TRV20. The first was lost or stolen. I needed to transfer tapes to DVD's so I bought another. This little DCR Handycam is beautiful and comes with easy directions, though it may take some time to utilize all of them. The first one I had took beautiful stills or videos and we loved it.
Summary: I can't figure out why no one has not reviewed this great little camcorder/digital still camera up until now. This was Sony's first mega pixel consumer camcorder on the market. In 2000 they made three models with this chassis, the TRV6, TRV11 and this TRV20 which was Sony's high end single chip consumer camcorder that year.
Summary: Pros: Better than dvd quality video; still pictures are good. Video effects and usability of comera functions are good. Nightshot works well. Good construction, beautiful lcd, very compact. I did over six months research before purchasing this camera; nothing come close. Cons: Serial connection to upload pics to computer is painfully slow.
Sony DCR-TRV20 Digital MiniDV Camcorder With Memory Stick
A Customer, Amazon
5 January 2002
Summary: The Sony DCR-TRV20 uses MiniDV format as opposed to the line of Sony's Digital 8 camcorders. MiniDV allows you to hold more video and on a more compact tapes. The camcorder weighs just 1lb 7oz and looks very nice. PICTURE The TRV20 features a resolution of up to 520 lines (other digital video sources like DVD players and DBS offer similar resolution), higher color bandwidth (Sony claims three times higher than VHS) and virtually no video noise, since the signal is stored...
Summary: I bought the DCR-TRV20 in January, and I have been very pleased with it. The image quality, features, battery life, size/weight, and zoom Zeiss optics are excellent. All around, a good choice ...and I'd buy one again. The still image feature produces digital photographs (1M pixel) that are good enough that I don't carry my 2 and 3Mb digital cameras when I pack the TRV20.
Summary: I have a Sony TRV20 since about a year and have used it quite a lot. The quality of the video is really superb. The still images have a very good resolution for a video camera, permitting non pixellized printouts. However I find that the colors of the still images are not as good as one could expect. The handling of still images is great too, you can view 9 pictures at a time as thumbnails on the screen. A good acessory is the flash made by Sony.
