Summary: I bought this camcorder because mine will not quit ejecting and I want to transfer about 20 tapes to DVD. The camcorder is working far better than I expected. This was a great buy for the money. Now I have 2 camcorders, charging unit, 3 batteries, strap, case and about 20 tapes.
Summary: This unit was sold with a known defect at a reduced cost. The defect would have been a major concern for most users in that the owner indicated that the unit would no longer record but it could play miniDVD movies just fine. I needed a camcorder to only PLAY miniDVD tapes so I could convert the tapes over to DVDs. Hence, this unit for the cost was a perfect fit for my requirements.
Summary: I needed to replace a TRV22 I owned and this was a great price with a almost new camcorder. I am very pleased. I use this camcorder to video tape old super 8 mm sound movies and then use the firewire connection to transfer to my mac to convert to a dvd. I have a lot of original DV tapes, so I'll need a device to play them on.
Summary: Purchased this camera to transfer my old 8mm tapes to DVD, and it does that just fine. Wish it had a remote to operate in player mode like my old (now missing) Sony camcorder, but I knew that when I bought it. Haven't even tried to use the camera or features yet, so I can't comment on them.
a great mini camcorder for it's time and still good

Summary: Sony's 2003 DCR-TRV22 miniDV (NTSC model) Handycam camcorder is obviously not a new camcorder, and does not produce HD quality video but among SD camcorders of it's time arguably one of the better ones for the amateur filmmaker. And I say this because there are many things to like about it.
Summary: Overall, it is a fine camera for it's age. It is small, and has all sorts of connections hidden from veiw under little 'doors' and such. I had to pull out the manual to find out where to plug up the power cord <sigh>. Camera will be used on tripod to keep it steady, and look forward to sending signal direct to computer instead of taping it. Also may save recordings on the memory card too and then transfer them from that.
Excerpt: "When I got this product I was amazed at how easy it was to use. So easy that my 9, 10 and 12 year old children could actually use this with no problems at all. We have produced loads of film on the mini tapes and been able to watch these back on tv using the A/V connecting cable and the picture quality was brilliant to say the least. The only problem is that the software to transfer the tapes for editing I found was not so easy and had to invest in ...
