Summary: I bought this unit for a trip we took to the Black Hills. This camera worked very well. The 25x zoom is amazing: It brought Mt. Rushmore in close enough to touch. Obviously when it is zoomed that far, minor hand shaking is accentuated, but it worked well when I steadied my hand on something.
Summary: I may be all caught up with the technology (i.e. Blu-ray, giant screen LCD & LED HDTV's all over the house, but when I produce movies for my family and friends I have to revert to "old style" screen resolution, etc.
Summary: I have had a VHS camcorder, a $1500 Hi 8, camcorder, and this is the simplest, most compact, highest quality recording camcorder, I have ever seen. It slips into your pocket, turns on when you open the viewfinder, the viewfinder is a touch screen.
Summary: I previously owned a Sony Handycam with a hard drive. I was satisfied with the camera but out of warranty it failed. I wanted an SD camera again as I don't want the hassle of dealing with the huge file sizes and haven't heard a lot of good things about the lower priced HD cameras.
Summary: I was looking for an inexpensive video camera to capture family vacations and moments and this fits the bill perfectly. It is not HD, but when I play back the video on my HDTV, it looks great.
Summary: I got this to replace a camera that had been broken by a student at school. The price was great and the parent willing to fork out $100. It works just as good as it's "stepbrother", which is like new!
