Summary: I bought this product just for fun, and its features, I thought the 70X zoom would be great but need a tripod to use that part and can not track fast. I am having trouble getting good vid. quality when ever I try to use it, I am not sure if it is the product or me, I am 58 yr old so tech stuff, well most recent tech stuff is not something I like to learn over and over when ever I buy something new, so I guess I must try to figure out how to use It, to sum it up, the tech...
Good video quality but very poor still picture quality
21 November 2012
Summary: It is a good camcorder for video shooting with good zooming capability but still picture quality is really very poor. It is too blur and judder. Still picture quality is even not marginally acceptable after editing. Also flash light is not useful at dark at all. But definite it takes good quality video, no doubt. I recommend this camcorder for video only, not for still picture at all.
Summary: There are (2) specific problems I have with the Sony DCR-SX45: the first one is endemic to all LCD screens, glare, you simply cannot see what you are shooting, the second is that the strap actually interfers with holding the camcorder, it is obstusive, difficult to manipulate the controls on the top of the handycam, perhaps my hand is too large, but I can not make an adjustment for it, and it cannot be removed.
Summary: First off the camera is HQ (high-quality) not HD (high-definition) so it's quite a bit less mega-pixels than I originally thought. For something that is supposed to be a newer model it isn't any better than the previous ones in this line. Camera works fine, pictures are very grainy though so not good for anything except home videos.
Summary: I've been disappointed with the quality of the picture. My flip camera quality is much better. It's rather complicated to figure out how to use the camera with a Mac. The format is not a standard format so it makes it hard to transfer. I bought this camera for my daughter and it's really hard for her to connect and download. She had a Samsung before which was MUCH easier for her to download and use.
Summary: This is NOT SONY quality! I remember my first SONY camcorder that I bought many years ago would produce the most vibrant colors and record great (SURPRISINGLY GREAT) video in low light. This Cam doesn't come close. Great price. Very light and comfortable to hold. Long battery life means you can literally record for hours (2) without a recharge. But the overall quality of the video is sub-par for any cam, let alone SONY. Bottom Line: I think I'll be going back to KODAK.
Summary: This is decent, no more than that, but for the price you can pick this handy cam up for now, that's probably all you an reasonably expect for your money. The image quality when playing back through a tv (42 inches) is fine but no where near what I'm used to with the HD and blu ray world. My main problem with this is how clunky the navigation on the menu is.
Summary: I thought this would be a good replacement for my old mini DV Sony Handycam, but the quality does not appear be as good. My old handycam is no longer reliable and doesn't work properly any more, but had been an excellent reliable camcorder recording many holidays and special occasions, so I expected good quality from this. I did not want to go for HD which would take up much more file storage space, and would probably take longer to edit.
