Doesn't Record in HD but Still a Sufficient Camcorder

Summary: Got a blue version from a friend of mine who moved up to a full HD camcorder. My wife was wanting something to use to record videos with that would replace the old DV cassette Handycam she had.. I added a 16gb SanDisc card to it along with another battery so she can record a lot of video on it. Fairly simple to use and changing the settings in the Menu.
Summary: I bought this used as a Warehouse Deal and was surprised to see it had never been used before, so it came in like new condition except without any instructions or original packaging. Compared with the HD video you can capture with other cameras, this is not comparable; this shoots in Standard Definition at 720 x 480 pixels, which is "good enough" for personal use and maybe for projects that you are wanting to look pre-High-Definition.
Summary: Whoever wrote that this was Mac compatible in the Q and A was telling a fib. I plugged it into my Mac last summer and had to reinstall the drivers afterwards. The video type is also not Mac compatible. Otherwise, great camera. Love the features. Agree with the reviewer who said he can't see the LCD screen outside. There is too much glare outside but that is probably a problem with many cameras and I am not about to spring for one with a retina display.
Great camera for the money but it's been discontinued.

Summary: Great camera but only had it for a week. I then sold it to my friend. No problem with the SX40. I just upgraded to a HDR-PJ30. SX40 is a very good camera for the money but not too good for high quality still shots.
Excerpt: I bought this camera over a year ago. It was a kind of spur of the moment purchase bought at Walmart. Still I'm glad I got it. I haven't used it alot though. Still learning. Main thing I don't know is how to put together bits of filming to make a continous movie. It doesn't have a pause button. It has a nice zoom and I love the blue color of mine. It's fairly easy to operate. I just need to use it more. Easy to charge. So as much as I've used it ilike it and recommend.
Excerpt: I got this camcorder at Conns for $249 about a year and a half ago and now you can find them for about $199. Seeing that these camcorders have not really lost their value means that it is a very good camcorder. It is a very small camcorder that is light and easy to handle with a 60x optical zoom and 4gb of space. I usually travel a lot and take this wherever I go. You can take both photos and video and it has a Pro Duo SD card slot for extra storage.
Excerpt: This little camera is great. the battery charges quickly and lasts for several hours when it is fully charged. One of the nice things about this camera is that it has built in memory storage, some comparable video cameras require you to buy a memory card in order to be able to record any viedo. It would have been nice if they offered a package deal with a memory card but oh well.
