Summary: Call me a little old-fashioned but why has Sony gone backwards with their camcorders? I used to have a viewfinder. I used to be able to take videos in total darkness with infrared nightshot. Your telling me Sony doesn't have the technology to keep the good features and still give us a tiny palm-sized camcorder? I was so excited when I first got this out of the box.
Summary: i am sorry but for a $200 camera now.... i was unhappy with the picture quality of this camera... i get better video quality out of my cameras that cost less then $50 ... the zoom is great but hardly worth it when you cut down quality so much... i like the simplicity of this camera, but i am hoping to trade the sucker in for a "cheaper better camera" ?! perhaps i am too picky... this is just my opinion.
Summary: Great camera if video isn't intended to be shared on video sharing websites such as Vimeo or YouTube because the picture quality isn't the best even though I still use it for this purpose. And of course it won't be the best since it's a standard definition camera. But the microphone and zoom is excellent. I like this camera, but it's just average.
Summary: I got this as a birthday present 5 months back and here is my impression on the product. Pros: 1. Good design - very easy to use and intuitive (Applies to most Sony Handycams) 2. AVI format. 3. Good light sensitivity and low light focusing. Cons: 1. Very deep depth-of-field (Hard to highlight subject) 2. Some what flimsy lens cover (Mine broke during normal operation and Sony does not cover labor :( ) 3.
Summary: Nice, feature rich cam for money spent. Very compact and anti-shake works well. Disappointed in normal indoor lighting quality of video - grainy. Biggest shortcoming (and be careful when using cam) is location of mic. The mic is on top of camera - not on the front. Anyone using the camera and speaking, even in low tones, will completely override the audio of everything being filmed. Should have been caught instantly in R & D.
Summary: Bought this camcorder and am surprised it doesn't come with a usb cord, i mean all camcorders are supposed to come with them these days. It never says it doesn't come with one on the amazon product page. Took some pics to internal memory and realized i couldn't get them off without a cord, now i have to order one.
Summary: camera was in great shape... but the ad said that a car/home kit was included which was not true. I was very unhappy that these items were missing and I had assumed they meant battery chargers. I e-mailed the company and their excuse was very lame.... ooops... we made a mistake. But I notice that the "mistake" is still in their description of their product. BEWARE....
Summary: Though it's not the best camera in the market, specially in times of FullHD resolution, it's a very versatille camera. Nice internal storage (8gb can go up to 3hs in best quality). Lightweight. The only issue is that you can't adapt any filters or lens, don't have a mounting shoe, nor mic input.
Summary: For the price this is a great video camera. Now it is definitely not the top of the line product but for someone like me that just wants to video some events and I am not really worried about lots of bells and whistles, this is a perfect camera. So, if you want fancy or HD, this is not your camera. If you want inexpensive way of videoing, I say go for it.
