Summary: This camcorder is amazing. I got it to try to film my grandfathers stories so we could keep listening to the stories he has told us thousands of times. Too bad he could read my face better than anyone. I have used it for some different things since my grandfather passed. its a good little camera.
this product by far is the most impressive of any i've used.

Excerpt: In the two weeks I've used this product I have fallen in love. To my great surprise it was touch screen. I loved that simply because I am a Treo 750 owner. The pictures I took of a little boy fishing were fantastic because the camera mode caught the shimmers off of the water surrounding him. The nature shots were clear and clean up close and far away. Battery life was impressive. I shot pictures and video all day without once having to change the battery.
Excerpt: I got my Sony DCR-SR62 last week and am I impressed with the product! I have tried many camcorders and did some online and in-store research before making my pic. The camcorders I was comparing were typically in the $300-$500 price range and included brands such as Sony, JVC, Panasonic and Canon. Frankly speaking, I always had a soft corner for Sony products - they are synonymous for quality products. And quality comes at a price.
Our first camcord, this one is fantastic! Good job Sony!

Excerpt: Amazingly, this is the first camcorder I ever purchased. I've always had a nice camera to record those special moment, but, never a camcorder. Part of the reason was they always seemed so expensive and I just never wanted to deal with all the different tape formats they've used over the years. This camcorder has a built in 30gb HD and you can add a memory stick too. It fits perfectly in my hand and is very easy to use.
Summary: Just get it! You be happy you did! The best cam there is! ;-) I have owned this camera and others and nothing else can stand close to the sound and picture quality. Not to mention how easy it is to use. This Cam is worth twice the retail price! Shhh... Don't tell Sony That! lol Have a Great Day!
Summary: I purchased this camcorder for the nightshot plus feature and I got more then what I wanted. The screen is so clear. The picture is amazing. I was even blown away by the sound. And this camcorder is so easy to use I didn't even need the instruction manual. I like how it fits perfectly in the palm of my hand. The nightshot plus feature is better then I had expected. If I could I would give this camcorder more than a 5 star rating.
Summary: This is a great video camera, it feels light, compact, neatly put together, and there should be no doubt about it, its a Sony product - they are all like this! However, I couldn't tell why this camera was better than DCR-SR40, or DCR-SR42 - which are at most $200 cheaper. So I had to call Sony Sales to have them explain to me that this camera DCR-SR62 has a VIDEO resolution which is 3 times better than DCR-SR42.
Summary: I had the camera for about 14 months. Then, after the warranty expires, the display started to go...It would display only horizontal lines. Sometimes if you just let it sit, the display would come back but as another reviewer noted, by then either your battery is half dead or the moment has passed. A few months later the display stopped working altogether no matter how long you let it sit. I contacted SONY and they advised it would cost $280.00 for the repair.
Summary: I bought this product for family event filming. After the warranty expires, the LCD touch screen display has issue, the screen starts playing up when turn on. Picture keeps moving up continously and makes it impossible to record/ view/transfer anything. If I turn on and wait for a long time (30 mins), it will stop moving up and I can record things, but by this time the battery is running out.
Summary: Bottom line: get something newer. This model only shoots standard-definition 720x480 interlaced MPEG-2 video (aka 480i). While you can burn that straight to a DVD, that it shoots interlaced video is a massive shortcoming, and frankly has kept me from using the camcorder much because of all the work I need to do in postproduction just to make the video acceptable by my (admittedly high) standards. It's a BIG problem if you want to pause and go frame-by-frame.
