i bought it to mount on my bow to film my kill shots. it's light weight is perfect. i had a specific use in mind for it when i bought it but i'll use it for everything. i like that itakes still pics on the removable card. i can video on the hard drive and take still pics on the card, remove it and place in my sony printer and print the pics. I've just returned from my honeymoon on Capri Island, Italy. This camera was a workhorse, the zoom was great. I sat at the restaurant at one end of the mountain and I could see the Italian cab drivers on the other side (1/4mi.). But, what really made me glad I made this purchase was the clarity. My father bought this for me 2 years ago and the first couple months it ran smooth and the only problem was the editing, and dock (USB only). However during summer break when i took it to camp many times it would go completely off-focus resulting in poor video. I got the Sony Handycam DCR-SR62 HDD camcorder from a person on Craigslist under the Rhode Island section which is where I live. I found it by chance listed in the computer catagory. I was shocked to see it selling for only $200.00 brand new in the box. The family needed to get the car fixed so they sold the camera to me.
