A great video camera

Donald V., Newegg
16 January 2007
  • Summary: None of the cons listed were of great concern to me. One thing worth mentioning is that the included Sony Software is very easy to use, but also quite limited. If you want to do some serious editing, you'll need to get your own software and the proper codecs.
  • Pros: At the highest quality setting the camera's hard drive holds well over 7 hours of video! Great image quality. When connected to my PC via USB, video files showed up in an external hard drive for easy drag and drop. Easy to connect to my computer or TV. Analog inputs allowed me to record old VHS t...
  • Cons: The dock is required to connect the camera to a computer. This seems especially silly since you can charge it or connect it to a TV w/o the dock. Image quality is somewhat poor in low light, but I've found that to be true with most home cameras. The nightshot is very limited in range and distance...

User Review

Frank A., Newegg
8 January 2007
  • Pros: Love it! My son wrestles and needed something to record his matches so he could look and see how he did. Use it for family stuff to. Really easy to use and burn DVD’S. Thanks Sony for making such good product. Much better than the JVC camcorder witch only has 30-gig hard drive.
  • Cons: Does not have external charger or extra battery. Had to get one online for 30 Dollars.

Data recovery in process.....

Norman M., Newegg
20 December 2006
  • Summary: This camera is poorly designed.
  • Pros: Makes great movies, but only if kept absolutely still. It is very easy to pull the movies from the hard drive via USB.
  • Cons: This camera is non-refunable, I would not recommend anyone to purchase this. If the camera is kept perfectly still, it works great; any camera movement causes the dreaded "Data Recovery is in process, avoid vibration" and the movie is lost.

Performs as expected

D. Weyand, Amazon
10 November 2006
  • Summary: Can't provide much info of a technical manner, but for home use this camcorder performed perfectly. Most of the video shot so far has been in a gymnasium of my daughter's basketball games.

Bought it, liked it, but still returned it

Wes, Amazon
10 November 2006
  • Summary: I bought this camera thinking that Sony would have improved on the success of their DCR-SR100. The SR60 is a nice camera that is just as compact than the SR100, it weighs less than the SR100 and is still very managable. I love the automatic lens cover and the menu is very easy to use.

Bad Engineering

Becky A. Dayhuff, Amazon
10 November 2006
  • Summary: Bad engineering in the connection between the camera body and the touch screen rendering the camera useless. Used this camcorder for a total of 36 minutes (one recording) since purchase. During the first 5 minutes of recording the LCD screen began to black out.

Handycam review

Bonnie, Amazon
10 November 2006
  • Summary: We bought this particular camcorder because is records directly to a hard drive. We had borrowed someone else camcorder that used mini DVDs and had an issue with the finalization process and lost the first 3 weeks of video of our daughter. We have been extremely happy with the DCR-SR60.
