"Easy to use"

r_voogd, CNET
17 October 2009
  • Pros: Fairly easy to use, no tapes or disks to mess around with, lightweight and compact.
  • Cons: Image quality mildly disappointing (but watchable), no viewfinder, LCD display can be hard to see in bright sunlight. need to turn off image stablizer when using tripod while recording someone making a presentation, no flash.

"Very nice camcorder, I love it!"

rojtech, CNET
19 April 2009
  • Pros: Very easy to use, and easy to upload videos to computer. The touch-screen function is really neat. The quality of still shots , especially outdoors, is really good. Easy to pick up and record fairly quickly. Convenient size, and decent price.
  • Cons: Very shaky when zoomed in, you'll need a tripod. Although the touch-screen feature is cool, it could be hard for someone with large fingers to use, as the buttons and screen are small. The photo quality is good, but the vid quality could be better.

Order the extra battery

L. Haught ""book hound"", Amazon
12 January 2009
  • Summary: Overall it is a good product. The battery life is not the greatest so you will want to purchase a bigger battery. The stabilization feature is wonderful. Takes pretty good pictures. Takes some getting used to if you are used to using the older, clunkier recorders.

"cool video for the price and quality. a good choice."

zahmbee, CNET
1 January 2009
  • Pros: SONY's SR-45 delivers solid performance for a standard def video camera. No tapes to fuss with and plenty of time to shoot with a 30G hard drive. Excellent auto focus and easy controls for recording. The new SONY software is cool too.
  • Cons: not much considering what the camera costs.

Great product for home videos

D. G. Holden, Amazon
21 December 2008
  • Summary: Ease of use on this camcorder is awesome! Nothing fancy to the settings - which make it very nice to pull out of the box and start using. Download softward is pretty user friendly, and 30GB capacity is great - I have been able to record 3-4 of my son's football games on the HD before even getting close to running out of memory. Picture quality is acceptable for long distance, but much better at close up recording. Easy to view, delete your videos.

Sony DCR-SR45 30GB Hard Drive Handycam

J.Coelho, Rate it all!
23 September 2008
  • Summary: This is a good Camera for the price, but I think you should find a better one for additional $70-100. It's compact, has a very nice zoom and HD capacity, accepts MS cards and has a useful touch screen that allows you to access all functions. But it has a very limited CCD, that doesn't allow you to have very high resolution recordings. The movies look nice in the small 2.7 screen, but it will be not so good for presenting in bigger screens, like a 32" LCD or higher.

Good for the cost

Jean M. Gabet, Amazon
17 September 2008
  • Summary: I've had this camera for the first few weeks and I am still in the process of learning how to use it. However there are a few things I can comment on. First, it is correct that the absence of optical vewfinder is a real problem with sunlit bright scenes: you just cannot see what you are filming, the LCD is not strong enough to fight the glare from the sun, so you are left blind.

A great camera for a great price

Allen Shepard, Amazon
9 September 2008
  • Summary: I've only been using my camcorder for a few weeks now, but I really love it. It is very light-weight and user friendly. One of the best features, and one of the most important to me, was the generous onboard memory. I can shoot hours and hours of video without messing with cards, tapes, or discs. This camera doesn't take as crisp still pictures as my Kodiak Easyshare, but the video looks great.
