Summary: PRIOR TO ME ORDERING IT, MY ORIGINAL ONE EXACTLY LIKE THIS ONE , WAS STOLEN AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT. IT CAME IN VERY TIMELY AND JUST IN FOR THE HOLIDAYS OF 2012 AND IT IS THE BEST CAMCORDER I'VE EVER OWNED YET. THANKS TO AMAZON, I FIND THE BEST DEALS ON HERE MUCH MORE THAN EBAY AND ANY OTHER WEBSITE. THANKS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS... ANTOINE Q.
Summary: I was looking for a inexpensive camcorder with Night shot and stablization for our Paranormal investigation group. I also wanted a hard drive so we wouldn't have to change DVD's or tapes every hour. I found this display model SR45 for a little more then $200.00. I was really pleasently surprised by what I got. I found that I could record on HQ for almost 6 hours and on standard for over 10 hours.
Pros: Fairly easy to use, no tapes or disks to mess around with, lightweight and compact.
Cons: Image quality mildly disappointing (but watchable), no viewfinder, LCD display can be hard to see in bright sunlight. need to turn off image stablizer when using tripod while recording someone making a presentation, no flash.
Pros: Very easy to use, and easy to upload videos to computer. The touch-screen function is really neat. The quality of still shots , especially outdoors, is really good. Easy to pick up and record fairly quickly. Convenient size, and decent price.
Cons: Very shaky when zoomed in, you'll need a tripod. Although the touch-screen feature is cool, it could be hard for someone with large fingers to use, as the buttons and screen are small. The photo quality is good, but the vid quality could be better.
Summary: This camcorder is a good camcorder in respect to size, but what it gains in smallness, it lacks in quality. Sony makes great camcorders, but the SR45 just doesn't cut it. It's highest quality video recording capability is 720x576 pixels, which is only 0.4 of a megapixel. The still photographs are even smaller - only VGA size.
Summary: Really loved the ease of use and downloading. I had a specific use for the camera, shooting Musical Theatre, It was not so great at, but I am not sure if it was user error or not. Figures were whited out when spotlighted. Image quality was pixelated on the computer (not sure if that was my settings). Picture quality was much better on the TV. I returned it because I only had 14 days to figure out whether my issues were me or the camera, and I didn't have time.
Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Easy download to Mac, Great Features, Great Sound, Simple Controls
Cons: Low-Quality Recordings, Whited out spotlit images
