Sony is Sony

aldis22, Ebay
7 October 2010
  • Summary: I had one Sony before and I like Sony. This is the 1st HDD from Sony and I think that 1st is always the best, because manufacturer always makes 1st the best to attract byyer. Later come other versions, some of them are better but some are made as cheap as possible and quality/lifetime becomes worse. 1st one you always will get for a better price because it is older model. I bought used but ''as new'' condition! I like this one.

excellent then, very good now given today's competition

hqbabie3, Ebay
26 February 2008
  • Summary: This product is very likable bc of its grip, its easy to use and its affordable battery price and rather straight forward pixel quality type of compression (as opposed to AVCHD of today's headache) and a CCD based sensor; all of which giving way to a satisfaction close to or BETTER than the Non-HDR resolution achieved by a DV tape-based picture quality such as the acclaimed DCR-HC96, let alone the hard-drive storage conveniency factor.

Great Camera

A. Kirk "MEKIRK", Amazon
9 January 2008
  • Summary: This is a great camera, I have had it a couple of years now and it has been great. Battery life is outstanding, sturdy build and great options. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is (a) it does not have a manual focus button on the case (its buried in menus) and (b) it does not have a memory card slot. I believe the new models have addressed both of these issues.

Sony DCR-SR100

T. Nguyen, Amazon
4 February 2007
  • Summary: I bought this camera with the blue tooth microphone option for a little more than a month. The following are my quick assessments: *I bought this camera because it is a hard drive version. *The camera did not perform to my expectation from Sony. *The video quality is good but I seen better with old tape model. *Still pictures are ok, but this is a video camera. Many 3M pixels digital camera produces better still pictures.

Convenience of HDD camcorder

Jimmy Dee, Amazon
17 January 2007
  • Summary: I have had this unit for almost a month. It is a replacement to my old 8mm Sony Camcorder. The Hard drive recording is very convenient. The recorded video was nice & clear. The built-in image stabilizer was great. It was the right decision to purchase this one rather than the DVD base camcorder. I was able to record a complete 1.5 hours of soccer game without having to change the DVD disc. The still picture was not as great as a stand alone digital camera.

I love this camera

vetsie5, Ebay
15 January 2007
  • Summary: Very convienient to use, going between still shots and video...I guess I wish the pixels were alittle higher..On a recent ski trip, I compared the picture to my daughters camera, both Sony, and thiers has amazing color where I think this one is average. That being said, I love the features!!

Good performance

Adhish Gupta, Amazon
9 January 2007
  • Summary: I purchased this camcorder less than 2 months ago. Overall I am happy with the performance of this product. 1. The video recording is very nice in the daylight or in bright light but tends to deteriorate in the low light surroundings. I wish an in-built flashlight would have been there. 2. The audio recording is superb (havent tried the bluetooth microphone yet). The in-built speakers play the audio fairly well. 3.

Good camera, sucky software.

Tracy, Amazon
27 December 2006
  • Summary: I like this camera so far. Its really our first experience with a video camera. Its very easy to use. The software is easy to use to transfer the video to the computer. I HATE the software, if you can call it that, to edit the video. I'm going to have to go buy some. The sound quality is wonderful. It picks things up very lifelike. The video quality is good and it has a nite shot feature that works in total darkness.

Good camcorder if you are not serious about editing your footage

Ganesh Kumar Eswaran "Ganesh Kumar Eswaran", Amazon
6 October 2006
  • Summary: This camcorder does capture good video. But the main drawback is that it records in MPEG2 format (DVD quality). Initially its nice and easy to capture video and watch it on your computer by downloading the files using the USB 2.0 connection. It gives you instant gratification. But after capturing 4 or 5 hours of video, you will notice that your videos aren't so great as you expect it to be. Its not the fault with your camcorder.

User Review

bigpapanoodle, Cnet.co.uk
26 February 2008
  • Summary: Had been looking around for a long time for a hard-disc camcorder. I was at the end of my tether with my old JVC tape dinosaur - too many golden moments lost to waiting for the tape to load up then record. Worst of all, I kept getting error codes and then it would freeze up. My first impression was how well it fitted my hand. So comfortable! Your hand was designed around this with all the buttons in easy reach of either your thumb or forefinger.
  • Pros: Comfortable to handle, viewfinder
  • Cons: Not much really
