Excerpt: Amazingly powerful yet incredibly compact, the Sony DCR PC350 Handycam camcorder puts the power of MiniDV in the palm of your hands. Its powerful 1/3-inch Advanced HAD (hole accumulation diode) CCD combines with the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 10x optical zoom lens to provide extraordinary digital video time after time. Combined with Memory Stick Duo media, it can even capture 3.0-megapixel photographs like a digital camera.
Excerpt: Sony’s DCR-PC350 is the company’s most expensive matchbook camcorder from 2004. It’s a good camcorder, especially for a matchbook, and it definitely beats the socks off of Canon’s high end Optura 400 and Optura 500. While the Opturas may take the cake in the manual control department, as they offer manual audio control and true shutter adjustment, the DCR-PC350 offers superior performance in low light environments as well as some other amenities for the matchbook user.
Pros: - Cineframe 24 mode (as a nice gimmick, nothing more), - Low light and video performance, - 16:9 mode, - mic input, ports, - Spot focus/metering
Cons: - Optical zoom / digital zooms are low, - No true shutte speed, - Handling is mediocre with touch screen
