fn2606, Ebay
3 January 2007
  • Summary: this camcorder is great for mobility and portability. it is very small and the tapes are even smaller. unlike some reviews you may see on the net, the micro MV tapes are reusable...yes you cam record over and over and still get good image quality.

Excellent, near professional quality. Fits in pocket!

  • Summary: It is an amazingly small camcorder, i literally fit it into my jeans pocket. I did my friends wedding in it, and i captured the great memories without distracting any members of the audience, only my 2 neighbors sitting left and right of me knew that the wedding was being recorded. I'm selling it now because i have no other events to use it at, but if i ever do in the future i will have to purchase another one.

Great DV camcorder

Bytor, Amazon
7 October 2004
  • Summary: I read the reviews and the software that comes with the camera isn't the best. i bought pinnacle 8 dowloaded the latest patches and it works great. I searched on google and found three programs that support micromv. I plugged the camcorder into my firewire card and transferred my vacation video to my pc. From their I edited my movie and made a DVD. it couldn't be any easier. Sony just released a new micromv camcorder.

Information Update

Jon in Mill Creek, Amazon
23 December 2002
  • Summary: I am writing this information here because I found the reviews of the DCRIP-5 at Amazon.com's site helpful when I was considering the purchase of the camcorder. It is a great camcorder because it overcomes the one obstacle that people encounter when they want to record something in their life on video tape. That obstacle is the bulkiness of most camcorders, which makes using them a major preduction. The DCRIP-5 fits in a pocket.

Nice small and compact camera!...Perfect fit.

"silentone229", Amazon
7 November 2002
  • Summary: This camera is small sleek and very nice! I own a digital camera, Canon s40 and its hard to believe that a camcorder could be relatively the same size. What really sold me is that this camera is not a heavy huge thing to lug around. I can now reasonably take it with me and record when I want and what I want... anytime. Good optics and zoom abilities. Small. Light. Many effects and good bright backlight compensator. The features on this will amaze you.

Amazing camera

Glenn Moore, Amazon
28 February 2002
  • Summary: I purchased this camera yesterday because I was due to make another impulse electronics buy. While I was not surprised by the quality of the Sony product, I was surprised at how many features they packed into to this little camera. I also have JVC DV camera and can see no difference in "quality of image". While my larger camera has a strobe, the Sony has none (or I have yet to find one). Therefore, shooting at night could be problematic.
