Sony camcorders are a nice brand to own.

shambaugh9124, Ebay
4 June 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this to be able to play the movies I made of my kids growing up and my last one quit, there is not anyother way to play these tapes so I needed the camera. My only problem with the product right now is trying to get my computer to recognize the camera so I can make another type of storage of the movies. I have always liked the quality of the sony camcorders and I don't have any other type to compare it to because I have only ever owned sony.

Fantastic Camera

Amazon Customer "jvgreene", Amazon
27 January 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this camera in 2008 to take on vacation. It takes me forever to decide on electronics to buy because I am very picky. This camera has lived up to all of my expectations and more. I was not in the market for a professional camera. I wanted a good to better quality camera to film trips, sporting events, and everyday life. This camera does it all. It takes amazingly crisp video as well as still images.

IR is cool

Pat, Amazon
15 October 2009
  • Summary: I like the IR on this. I only gave 3 stars for Picture Quality only for cpature to Computer. There is a loss of color. I bought new high end firewire and it's a tad better. I use several Video Editors with the same loss of color in all. Oh the Macro is awesome. You can get real close and its clear at about 1-1/2 inches...better than my other cams.

horizontal bands in picture

William H. Coffin, Amazon
26 May 2009
  • Summary: I've had the DCR-HC62 for a few months. I took it to the Grand Canyon, so yes, it was subjected to some dust. But about 1/4 of the takes have a horizontal banding, indicating a problem with the tape drive. My older Sony camera (I think a PC-100; it was made in 2000) took much rougher treatment with no problems, and, frankly, still has better picture quality.

Great Features

Scott Hildenbrand "Re@ctance", Amazon
15 March 2009
  • Summary: Length:: 1:15 Mins This camera has great features but I mostly purchased it for work with time lapse. I posted a video of one of my time lapse videos and have this camera always filming more. The camera works so well I ended up getting two. One for personal film work and the other for time lapse. Night vision is pretty good and with added infrared lights you can get some nice night shots.

Good Camera Confusing Software

Christopher Becker, Amazon
23 February 2009
  • Summary: The camera does everything that I want. My only quibble is with the software that comes with the camera. For some reason it only allows you to transfer video from tape using the I-Link connection. Other than that I am very happy with the camera. I actually would give it four stars but can't change my original post.

Just got it

JLo, Amazon
9 February 2009
  • Summary: After agonizing over which camera to buy, I took the plunge and bought this one. I had bought and returned a Sony mini DVD camcorder after finding the results to be pretty poor. I didn't want to spend the dollars to move up to HD, and people told me that Mini DV was the highest quality image one could obtain short of going to HD. After having the camcorder for about a week and using it a couple of times, I am overall pleased with the purchase.

Sony Handy cam DCR-HC62

ascribe, REVIEW STREAM
1 January 2009
  • Excerpt: I am very fond of Sony products and bought Sony Handy cam DCR-HC62 immediately in the first week of its release. It is really a prized possession for me. Its performance is simply great and no other company is able to match the standards.
