Summary: This video camera is so disappointing! Especially since Sony is usually pretty good. The quality of the video is awful and lots like crap when you watch it on a large screen tv. I am also having problems with the battery too. It doesn't seem to keep its charge more than 5mins!!!
Summary: My video camera was working great but yesterday it started acting up and was not replaying video in a normal mode. The video was choppy and the sound came out in blips here and there, it is in a permanent state of slow fast-forward or so it seems.
Summary: I am very disappointed with this camera. The image stabilizer does not work. I exchanged the first camera I bought for a second and was presented with the same problem. I tried the second camera for a while thinking I was at fault. Nope. The IS does not work.
Summary: Although the video output's properties claim it's 740x480 resolution... It is truly 360x240 which is scaled-up to 720x480 by the playback device or video editing software. I'm sorry I purchased this piece of junk and should have spent more money.
Pros: It's DV and will not "drop frames" as analog devices will often do when rendering to digital media. I am able to play with non-linear editing software.
Cons: Poor video quality main reason listed below...
Summary: I bought this camcorder a couple of years ago and it worked fine. Got it out of the box to use at my grandson's softball game this week, turned it on, pushed the button to open the door to insert a mini DV tape, inserted the tape but the door refused to close.
widespread problems with cassette door not working
14 March 2006
Summary: Hi, I have had this for a couple of years but rarely use it. One day the door cassette door refused to shut. I googled this problem and LOTS of Sonys have this problem, and Sony does not even address this issue in the manual.
Summary: I purchased this for my husband and it was a huge hassle. The camera itself is fine, but if you want to upload any footage to a computer, good luck. I purchased the ilink cable just to make sure I could do it, but despite having a new, expensive computer and a new laptop, neither had the port...
Summary: This camcorder does not come with the cables necessary to transfer the image to your computer. And don't bother with buying a USB cable, since the images turn out awful. Get the Firewire cable.
