Summary: I love the camera and it takes fantastic images...but editing your video's is virtually impossible since you cannot plug a firewire or USD cable into the unit, copy it to your PC and just "Edit". You need to convert the timing. MAOR MAJOR MAJOR pain.
Summary: I like the camera so far, and I'd give it higher ratings, but their software support is terrible. Particularly, the DVD403 comes with Sony's PicturePackage and PIXELA's ImageMixer EasyStepDVD. After ImageMixer EasyStepDVD installs there is no icon to launch the program anywhere (this is on XP).
Great Camcorder - Incredibly poor customer service

Summary: The camera is great - when it is working. However if you need customer service you are in deep trouble. My camcorder developed a problem after about 45 days - and it was my fault. I sent it out to their service center in CT. They could not fix it and sent it back as I had sent it to them.
Summary: I just returned my DVD403 and purchased the Canon Optura 600 instead (brand new just came out miniDV with 4.3mpx photos). The 403 is nice, but the miniDVD is too limited, specially if you want to edit a lot of video after shooting it like I do. No 1394 port was disappointing.
Summary: Sony DVD-handycams take excellent video-shots. However there are a few disadvantages with recording on DVD. Although, I have an earlier model, I assume the problems are the same. The small discs are quite expensive.
