Summary: When This was purcahsed it said NEW.. When it was received it really does not seems new at all since it was in a generic box, with a manual that is dirty and the charger and other cables were simply on the side. I had purchased a brand new one from Best Buy 6 years ago and it came in the SONY box with the protective foam and cardbaord inside and manual in plastic sleeve...
Summary: Great camera, great camcorder, seams to work like most sony products, Nice compact design. Easy to use......................................................................................................................................
Summary: I have to say that I've been tremendously impressed with the reviews of (especially) this product after owning it for a brief period just to check the Sony DCR-DVD105 Handycam myself: it's a great "first" camcorder for the novices -- especially if you're not looking for crystal clear high quality images -- but that's saying about all you can. The features -- the 20x Optical Zoom, onscreen programming, etc.
Summary: The camera works great but ...Neither Sony nor Pixela, the makers of the Picture Package software that comes with some Sony camcorders with mini-disks tells you that the software IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS XP, SERVICE PACK 2! It will crash your computer or not work properly. DO NOT install the Picture Package software if you have run Windows XP. If you have a DVD player on your computer, you can download the photos from the mini-disk without this dangerous software.
Summary: This camcorder does capture good shots. But the main drawback is that it records to DVD. Initially its nice and easy to capture video and watch it on DVD instantly. It gives you instant gratification. But after capturing 4 or 5 hours of video, you will notice that your videos aren't so great as you expect it to be. Its not the fault with your camcorder. Its because all of us shoot extra footage, unwanted scenes, shakes, etc which we want to edit.
Great camera IF you have no interest in editing your videos...

Summary: This camera is a lot of fun to use, it has Great quality (low-end professional), lots of features (widescreen mode, black & white, faders etc), it was very easy to use especially with the touchscreen lcd. I did find one big issue with the functioning of this camera, when you play back the video you can actually hear the sound of the dvd spinning in the camera, pretty hard to overlook or try to tune out.
Summary: The on-line registration process is a nightmare. After one hour I couldn't get to the end of it without the process dropping me out, so am still not registered. Sony have this stupid practice of, if you ask a question, they give you a range of answers that are so far away from the question that you wonder who thinks them all up. In addition the instructions say that you can add to RW disks. You can't.
