Depends on use

Jones, Amazon
10 January 2013
  • Summary: I bought this camera for documenting pictures and video of our first born and it is OK for pictures as long as you either use the flash in lower light or are in a bright daylight setting. The video is OK as well as long as you don't move or pan very very slowly. When you have a bright daylight setting and still video the picture is great. Battery life on the other hand is abysmal.

No continuous auto-focus

Sam, Amazon
14 December 2010
  • Summary: I only had this item for a few hours as I have returned it almost immediately. I believe there is a fundamental problem with the firmware of this camera, at least the unit I had. It did not continuously auto-focus. I.e. it focused on something, then when you moved the camera it did not adjust the focus, but remained as-is, resulting in recording that was completely out-of-focus.

A disappointment

Johnathan Shunn, Amazon
11 November 2010
  • Summary: I got this as an upgrade to my CG6 and it didn't turn out to be an upgrade at all. The pictures are downgrade and look like camera phone pics. You have to look up on the internet to find the hidden menus for the image stabilization and video zoom functions. The video looks really dark and if your too close to the subject it gets blurry (like within a foot). Too far things (more then 4 feet) look blotchy and moving the camera and panning has no smoothness to it.

Right Idea Implemented Poorly

DVM "dvm", Amazon
27 September 2010
  • Summary: I purchased this device based on its specs and pre-release hype. The 10MP stills combined with an HD camcorder would make for a convenient product that, I believed, would come close to the quality I'm used to with AVCHD camcorders and dedicated still cameras. When you first hold the camera you realize that it is no where near the quality of most devices.
