Gaps in long recordings

Ben Bogart "Ben", Amazon
22 June 2011
  • Summary: Unfortunately this camera is incapable of recording for extended periods of time without large gaps in the recording. This makes it basically useless as a camcorder. I get a few second gap in my recordings at even intervals depending on the resolution I am recording at (more often at higher resolution). I contact Sanyo customer care and they said this is normal and expected behavior and refused to do anything to help.

Sanyo 2000

Pro Vidiot, Amazon
12 April 2011
  • Summary: Nice 1080 camera for the size and price. Uses common SD Cards. Easy to use as it travels low key everywhere without fanfare. Good spy camera.

No Service

R. Strain, Amazon
24 January 2011
  • Summary: Camera worked fine for 6 months then it quit. The warranty is just for 90 days!!! Amazon was unable to give me a valid customer support phone number even after 4 calls. I waited on the phone for 2 hours and 43 minutes and finally got someone from Sanyo they said I had to send it to a separate repair company since it was over 90 days from purchase. Then you have to send it to a company called Skokie in IL.

A. Piotrowski, Amazon
18 February 2010
  • Summary: Camera Works Good, The Software that comes with it leaves A Lot to be desired and you Have to Pay Nero an Extra $50 to get the Full Capabilities of it. Amazon SUCKS!! Questionable reliability!

M. Ou, Amazon
21 January 2010
  • Summary: My Sanyo camcorder had a red-pink vertical stripe on the far right side of the picture and after 4 months, it no longer records both video or stills. I just get a system error message. No help from Sanyo on this issue because I bought this camcorder outside the US. They said I must pay to fix their defective camera. So now, the barely new camcorder is just a paperweight. After reading what C.

My camera broke after 4 months!

M. Ou, Amazon
21 January 2010
  • Summary: No help from sanyo either because I was an early adopter (I ordered one from Honk Kong for $600). But that is not surprising. What does surprise me is a camera only lasting 4 months, now its going to cost even more money to fix this defective camera.

Best technology, near perfect dual camera yet useless

B. Williams, Amazon
4 January 2010
  • Summary: This is an amazing camera in every way except if you are getting it for the hi def video, please do not. Even the most inexperienced novice will realize what a beautiful hi def video this has if only you could actually watch it. No matter what Sanyo tells you, it basically has no image stabilization what so ever.

CAUTION - Poor Customer Support and Service from Sanyo

Cecil S. Caine "Cy Caine", Amazon
15 December 2009
  • Summary: Regrettably, I haven't been able to spend much time out in the field with this camera because it showed up with a broken lens cap. While Amazon customer service will take care of this for me, I thought I'd reach out to Sanyo to get a replacement lens cap. They are very difficult. Not only do you have to fax them a copy of the invoice, you also have to send them the serial # off of the bottom of the camera.

Loses 10 seconds of video every 22 minutes

Amazon Customer, Amazon
11 December 2009
  • Summary: As others have pointed out, the Sanyo VPC-HD2000 (and VPC-FH1) will lose about 10 seconds of video every 22 minutes (or so) when the file size hits the 4Gb limit for the FAT filesystem. At this point, the camera opens a new file and loses about 10 seconds of video in the process. Other camcorders (Canon, Sony, etc.) don't seem to exhibit this issue. One way manufacturers work around the issue is to buffer the video input during the switch over so that no frames are lost.
