Excerpt: Sanyo's VPC-HD2000 camcorder is a surprising update to the company's VPC-HD1010, which it launched just a few months ago. The two look pretty much identical. However, the VPC-HD2000 is the first consumer camcorder to shoot full HD footage - 1,920x1,080 pixels - at 60 complete frames per second, or 1080p/60fps.
Summary: There's no doubt that the Sanyo Xacti HD2000 has cleverly packed in more features than you'd expect from its gadget-y looking exterior, and fun to use it is too. But, if you've £549 to spend and your bias is towards still images, there are very obviously better options for you than the HD2000, not least when that price would pay for a starter DSLR and kit lens with change to spare.
Summary: With every new generation, Sanyo’s Xacti camcorders have stocked up on new treats. The latest version is now equipped with Full HD recording, the very ‘now’ CMOS sensor, and a PAL friendly mode – absent from its HD1010 predecessor. Some things never change, though, and it’s still designed to look like a phaser from Star Trek – and we mean the old, camp series, not JJ Abrams’ trendy new flick.
