From the Lab Review: Sanyo Xacti HD1010

Excerpt: (1 items) Sanyo Xacti HD1010 Sanyo’s Xacti VPC-HD1010 is a high-definition camcorder that’s much smaller than your typical HD model, making it ideal for carrying with you around town. In fact, I found the VPC-HD1010 to be an exciting little device, full of features and capable of capturing impressive videos and still photos. When I picked up the VPC-HD1010, the first thing I noticed was its solid feel.
Pros: Excellent still photos, Great video clarity, Smaller than most camcorders, Hot shoe for accessories, Cables included, Wide variety of shooting modes, Easy-to-use interface
Cons: Some streaking and jitter with motion video, Highest video resolution isn’t currently Mac-compatible
Summary: The Sanyo Xacti HD1010 is one of the best HD camcorders we've reviewed in this price range, combining comprehensive manual features with top-grade video quality. Despite the unwieldy controls and difficult menu interface, it remains a winner.
Pros: Superb image quality for the asking price, solid low-light performance, huge array of inbuilt modes and features
Cons: Rubbish menu interface, no optical image stabiliser, underpowered optical zoom
Summary: In the realm of HD camcorders, Sanyo's HD1010 feels like an old friend. From the HD1 to the HD1000 we've seen its lineage through thick and thin and, so far, it’s improved with every step. The competition's been hotting up, though, with Sony's titanium clad HDR-TG3 and Samsung's surprisingly able HMX20. So what's Sanyo done to improve on the trusty, four-star rated 1000?
