Summary: I find it amazing that here is a new model Sanyo Xacti. I own a Xacti HD-2000. I have encountered the black screen of death along with losing precious videos of important events in my life. I tried to find someone to complain to. I also thought perhaps a ROM upgrade might be available. In my search for Sanyo support I found out that Panasonic purchased Sanyo in 2009. By doing so, Panasonic basically eliminated Sanyo from its competition.
Summary: i bought this camera years ago. black screen of death after a year or so. spent a day to fix it (you'll find instructions on the web). i probably didnt clean the lubricant from the iris well enough - black screen again after 3 months. in the drawer ever since.maybe i try cleaning it again on a rainy day... it,s just ridiculous that sanyo still sells this item.
Summary: order was not sent because of credit card problems said a voice I could not understand. this camera and last one purchased sent with no cd programs for operating camera. I will never buy anything from amazon again and want no further emails from amazon.
BUYER BEWARE!!! VERY DISSAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT AND WITH SANYO LACK OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!

Summary: Well we purchased this camcorder over a year ago. I rarely use this only for Christmas, birthdays and of course the kids end of school programs. If I use it 5 times this year that was a lot. It worked fine although it was very confusing to operate. In addition I found this camera to be very awkward to hold. The still photos were okay I never really used this function.
Summary: I bought this camera one year ago just prior to one of my mountain climbing expeditions. I liked it for the lightweight and the HD performance. I bouth it from a shop in San Francisco and paid over $900. I think this was the worst product I have ever purchased. The camera did not make me any movie in the mountains (in any mountains, not just this one). Once at high altitude I felt so frustrated that almost threw it down from 15,000 ft.
Summary: when it worked, it worked great, but after about 2 weeks, the screen went black and stayed that way. luckily, i bought it used for cheap. unluckily, that voided the warranty. last sanyo product i will ever buy...ever. cant even find a place in my town that sells or can fix them. not willing to pay 200 dollars to get it repaired by the company. big ripoff. really pissed. i guess ill just have to live with throwing 350 dollars out the window.
Summary: I was amazed to read the reviews that mirrored my personal experience. This will be my last Sanyo anything... Sanyo should have provided firmware to fix their lighting shortcomings and paid for the massive amount of camera failures.
Summary: I saw a review for this camera in a magazine when they first came out and it sounded like a great thing. I ordered one from the PX. It took forever to come in and when it did there was no picture, only a black screen. The PX doesn't have the best track record for electronics, so after I took it back, I bought another one somewhere else. It came in and worked. I thought it took great video, nice vibrant colors.
