Summary: this is a very light/compact video camera with HD video (720p) that fits into your pocket. when I play it on the TV (I purchased the component cable separately to connect to HDTV), the video and audio are crispy and stunning clear. the photo and video files also works well with Mac iLife. once you upload the files into iPhoto, you can watch the video clips with QuickTime right away. you can also edit the video clips with iMovie, but I have not done much of that.
Summary: I was a professional photographer 25+ years ago and this entire age of digital photography and video is really amazing. My Nikon D-300 continues to amaze me with its quality of non film photographs. Although I own a semi-pro Canon HD video camera, I had a need for a small portable video device that could also shoot video in a format for web upload without my needing to convert it with Adobe Premier Elements.
Summary: We had this for a year and we are really pleased with it. Everything works like it says it would except for taking still picture (it doesn't look that good). However I only need it for taking movies so that doesn't bother me that much. I Just have to say I love the manual setting it has in it. It gives me more control of the picture because I am not too pleased with the auto mode.
Summary: Tried this camera head-to-head against a comparably priced Kodak Playsport ZX3 to see if I could live without the optical zoom and compare image quality. I really wanted to like the Kodak with the ruggedness of this camera, but as usual with Kodak digital products the rich set of features don't always live up to expectations.
