The zoom work fine if it is not extended all the way. If it is extended all the way you have to use a tripod of the recording becomes shaky.

Summary: I have purchased and tried every pocket video camcorder on the market and have returned them all. This is the only compact camcorder that takes really good videos, the zoom is great, the image stabilizer actually works, and it all around a great little video camcorder.
