Summary: Picture quality is horrible. My old digital camera takes better movies than this camera. I am very surprised by this piece of junk put out by Samsung bacause I have Samsung DVD players and a Samsung TV which are great.

SC-MX20, DEAD AFTER SIX USES, ANALOGOUS TO EXTORTION TO FIX

Summary: I purchased a Samsung SC-MX20 Camcorder in October 2008. I used it about 6 times. I never dropped or mishandled it in any way. The camera stopped working completely after the "low battery" message appeared. HERE'S THE KICKER. It's still in PARTS warranty, but I have to pre-pay Samsung for labor, and then pay to ship the camera back to them. I was so irate I told Samsung I'd call them back.
Summary: I will skip over all the good things this player has to offer (battery life, optical zoom, features, 16:9 format) and get right to the showstopper I came across: The video images are skewed, i.e. the proportions are off! Practically speaking, if you record something in 16:9 mode, the resulting video is horizontally compressed and people look squeezed and too thin.
Summary: I bought one of these to assist me in my fledging career in stand-up comedy. My first experience with it was recording a showcase gig with some chums. It was in a room with flourescent lighting. The resulting video was extremely poor quality. I tried later at a different venue (with better lighting) and the clips looked much better, but there was a problem with audio/video being out of synch.
Pros: Cheap. Good battery life. Good compression.
Cons: Dodgy aspect ratio behaviour. File corruption. Synching problems.
