Summary: The video quality from it's 7.8 meg a pixel is great when used with a good card. A good card is a Class 10 SD card. It does time lapse which can be handy and has a 3x optical zom. Take the bare MPG4 files and use them with ConvertX toDVD program and the DVD will look like it was done by a pro.. Youse a tripod when possibl....or you will get shakes!
Summary: Nice design, very compact, and light weight... and that would be the end of what I like about it. The camera is sub-par. The motion stabilization is ineffective. Low light is atrocious. Software was clearly an afterthought. Battery life is bad. Video is classified as HD but one of the worst actual pictures I've seen to date. Not impressed Samsung; back to the drawing board.
Samsung Couldn't Fix It So They Sent My Money Back
Scott V, Amazon
23 January 2011
Summary: The unit recorded a thumping sound with every video. I sent it back, and Samsung didn't even bother to send me a replacement unit, they just sent me a check! WOW. I hope my $2400 Samsung fridge does not start making funny noises!
Summary: I received this for Christmas. The specs on this this camera are great. Unfortunately the video recording quality is terrible. The images have the detail, but it looks like there is a film or noise over the entire image. The recording looks no better than our HI-8 SD recorder. Very disappointed. All the features function correctly, such as output via HDMI to a TV set. Also the video screen on the back has a very limited viewing angle. Will be returning for a refund.
Summary: This item was on backorder for several months. When it finally came, there were no instructions at all. A CD came with it, but it's not compatible with a Mac. I had to buy a memory card, so that was an added, wasted expense. I called Samsung for a User's Manual, and they blew me off.
Summary: I bought this camera because I was going to a wedding and the packaging said it would work in low light situations: WRONG When I got home and loaded the videos onto my computer I: A. Couldn't see anything B. Couldn't hear anything (when the camera is being zoomed in and out the volume cuts out) C. Couldn't even lighten the videos in Windows movie maker- the quality just wasn't good enough FAIL. Returned this ASAP.
Summary: This device was perfect in every way. I had high hopes. Until I played back the video and heard a constant clicking sound that was impossible to ignore. For a memory based device, it is curious that there would be a mechanical noise on the audio track. It is a shame as the device is beautifully designed, easy to operate and captures nice quality images. Contacted Samsung and they would not say anything other than to return it for servicing. Very disappointing.
Summary: I bought the samsung and returned it! Either mine was broken or it has a flaw: you can hear a clicking sound of the lens auto-focusing when you play it back! And it's very noticable. Also, the image stabilization is just terrible--no matter what you do it is shaky (as is the Flip); I just cannot stand watching the videos this camera produced, and the audio flaw makes it un-listenable, too. NOT recommended!
