The HMX-U10 is proof that beauty can only be skin deep. In terms of looks and design, it’s head and shoulders above many of its rivals, but a clunky touch interface makes this a frustrating device to use, and both still and video quality are disappointing. If price is a concern, the U10 can be picked up very cheaply now, as the recently announced, image-stabilised, HMX-U20 is not far from the horizon. It remains to be seen if the quality and user interface issues will... Read more
I purchased the Samsung HMX_U10 Camcorder to take with me hunting. I've had a few instances where something crossed my path that I would have loved to have captured on video. The ease of use and the quality of the video were very surprising. The optional software is built right into the camera's internal memory (Intelli-studio) and installs very easily, including a live check for updates over the internet. This camera only has digital zoom, so it's probably best kept... Read more
The picture quality seems as good as I would have expected. There are a lot of menu options and navigating them is not as intuitive as it could be. Getting to the right menu is still a bit of a mystery to me. There seems to be at least two different menu trees and I don't always get to the tree with the stuff I want to do. Hooking up to a television is requires making several choices on different menus and the documentation options are not as easy to determine as I would... Read more or see product

I recently purchased this camera for a cruise and subsequent trips to Australia and Europe. It is a $100 video camera that you can shove in a pocket. It will never replace my $350 Sony Handicam. After recording about 50 hours of video, I have observed the following: - The video quality is pretty good for use on a computer with a good graphics card, YouTube, and a smaller TV. On a 50" television, it is going to be grainy. - When filming indoors, it does require a great... Read more
