Great for the price

William Cantrell, Amazon

  • Summary: Had this product for a few years, but have just used it as a regular point and shoot. I love the HD quality, but it has to be in great lighting or the quality is grainy. I would also like to figure out how to use the high speed feature without having such a grainy, low quality.

Samsung HMX-R10 Alien Eye camera

subzeroblu, ReviewStream
15 June 2010
  • Excerpt: Samsung did it again, with it’s new HMX-R10 aka Alien Eye (in my terminology). The HMX-R10 records is full HD and as a result the video quality is truly amazing. This is most likely one of the better ’small’ camcorders you can buy.

Samsung HMX-R10 Camcorder

Banelisiwe Lubisi, ReviewStream
15 June 2010
  • Excerpt: The tilted lens of the HMX-R10 Camcorder by Samsung has made a world of difference for me in the length of time I can now get in, when shooting acts. Seemingly tilted by about 20 to 25 degrees upwards, my wrists don’t get tired all that quickly anymore, as opposed …

Extremely good value

B. Jimenez, Amazon

  • Summary: This camera is awesome. I use it recreationally to record stuff for Youtube. It is very cool. The picture quality is amazing HD that should not be this good for [...]. The still camera option is pretty cool. I use that as much as the video if not more. Some reviews complain the zoom is not enough but I think it's just fine. The software isn't too hard. Great camera for this price.

A great camera with one infuriating flaw

Inspector Gadget "Go Go Gadget Reviews", Amazon
14 June 2010
  • Summary: I've been using the Samsung R10 to shoot my short movies for a over a year now. It's done me very well and has great resolution, a sort-of decent battery life, and quite user-friendly. But there is one thing, that drives me crazy: The upward-angled lens. Why? Who on Earth thought of this? Many of the promotional videos I watched before purchasing claimed that this was done for 'ease of use'. Ease of use? Are you kidding me?

Four and a half stars, just a minor improvement...

Jerry M. Ku "newdad", Amazon

  • Summary: the hand strap is a pain and I have smaller hands, but the manipulating of the buttons is cumbersome with just the hanging strap. I'm not sure what the logic was on this. Beyond that, the camera works great! Very intuitive, simple and easy to use overall. Image quality is great! Like most cameras, it gets a little grainy in lower lighting, but still pretty okay. The still pics work just as good as any camera, it's like buying two for one, good value.

Very good for a small camera like this.

Domel, Amazon

  • Summary: Given that this thing fits into a palm of your hand I must say its very good. But don't expect professional movie quality videos out of it. I also wish it had a regular hand strap rather then the little loop thing. The buttons under your thumb are almost impossible to operate with one hand without dropping the camera (and I have rather large hands).

Don't know yet

Alan Edwards, Amazon
14 June 2010
  • Summary: Incredibly small! Good quality. Does NOT have a hand strap, uses a little wrist strap instead. It makes holding it much tougher and getting to the buttons as well. Lots of settings up to FULL 1080p, future proofing your purchase. I still have an excellent Sony MiniDV which can shoot standard definition in a 16:9 format and still think think AVCHD has a ways to go. If you have a bluray burner and player, then it's a no brainer.

HMX-R10

Amazon Customer, Amazon
14 June 2010
  • Summary: Just wanted to say, This camcorder is definitely worth 399. Great vids on all settings. Fits nice in my hand. Great for the average person who just wants to capture memorable family moments. Its my first camcorder so I can't nit pick recording quality like some of these reviewers who are never satisfied. I watch the vids on my panasonic plasma and the quality seems excellent to me at this price point.
