Review: Pivothead Durango Video Glasses

21 June 2012
  • Pros: Super low-profile — unobtrusive enough for cycle sports, almost discreet enough for 007. Eye-level and forward-facing for true POV. Sharp video at up to 60 fps, with many recording and focus settings. Also shoots nice still images. Lens options include standard (dark), photochromic and prescription.
  • Cons: Not waterproof. Mega-geek factor when the lenses are clear. No built-in Wi-Fi to stream video. Battery indicator is too simple. Creative mounting required for shooting from anywhere other than your face.

Pivothead review: video recording eyewear for (reasonably) discreet POV clips

4 June 2012
  • Conclusion: Pivothead might not make particularly attractive sunglasses, but they're pretty great at making highly portable POV video cameras.
  • Pros: Impressive video and audio quality, Discreet compared to the competition, Basic operation is simple and intuitive
  • Cons: Poor placement of indicator LEDs, Mobile control apps still a month away, Slightly pricey
