Summary: I bought this to make home movies of my son graowing up. I thought that recording right to a dvd would be best and it is really is great. No messing with computers or worries of the computer crashing and loosing my videos. LOVE IT!!!

Summary: This model has two functions in one camera. I had one of these for years and decided to buy a second because I loved the features plus you can't find them anymore.Very good unit...I am well satisfied!!!
Summary: Just a few observations first. I read all the reviews I could. Leica has a world wide reputation for superb lenses. 3CCD use. Still selling the same model after 4 years. So I obtained the Panasonic VDR D300. If you read the reviews you will know how good a performance this camera has. What should be emphasized is the extreme ease of use. Also the camera has been "tweaked" I'm sure. Mine takes about 20 Seconds to format a DVD-RW.
Summary: Length:: 3:07 Mins Here's a sample of what this little camera can do. Believe or not, I shot my daughter's recital from about 30 yards (using the zoom feature, of course) and in a dark auditorium. Notice how the lens picks up all available light and the sound is clear. I had the camera sitting on my knee and the video (even with the zoom maxed out) is very smooth. I LOVE this camera...imagine how bright and clear the picture is in the broad daylight!
Summary: If one takes a fairly good video that needs no editing, a TV presentation is very simple but limited to about 18 minutes, which is the capacity of one side of the mini DVD-RAM disc (which I prefer to use!). Computer download, editing and ultimate burning to a normal-sized DVD is done with the bundled, two-part Pacman-style software whose manual is large but not very explicit or user friendly.
Summary: 3CCD! This is on par with professional cameras but in a consumer package. Smaller than its direct competitor (Sony DCR DVD505). Camcorderreview.com gives it a real good rating and is one of the top 2 (two) camcorders of the year (2006). Good color, crisp images, and not too shabby 3.5 mp still images straight to SD Card. Tip to those migrating from MiniDV, DVD Camcorders are for those who like having an immediate "Hard Copy" of their film recordings.
