JVC Everio GZ-MG330 ( Review ) This entry-level Everio is a great little camcorder for its price. Featuring a 35x zoom and 30GB hard drive, it can't match the Panasonic SDR-H60 on paper, but we found the JVC's low light performance to be much better. Outdoor shooting was a draw. The GZ-MG330 ($449 MSRP) tended to produce more vibrant colors, but the Panasonic's were more accurate – take your pick on what's more important to you. Read more

The Panasonic SDR-H60 Digital Camcorder is a great little camcorder at the right price of $549.99. It shoots great pictures both indoors and outdoors. The SDR-H60 can record video to either SD/SDHC cards or to the internal 60 GB hard drive. According to Panasonic, the H60 can store up to 54 hours of recording time. Read more

This hard disk camcorder may not have the refined looks of Sony's DCR-SR55E, but it has impressive features. The most obvious of these is the 60GB hard disk, which holds 14 hours of video at the highest quality setting of 10Mbit/s. As well as the hard disk, you get a massive 50x optical zoom, letting you fill the frame with distant subjects. Read more

I got this camera for my birthday 3 years ago. I wish I had taken it back to the store immediately after the first time I downloaded a video. I shot a LOT of video before I downloaded anything, thanks to the large hard drive. After the first couple of videos came out so poorly, I thought I was doing something wrong. Then, I lost the user manual right away. I finally downloaded a manual from Panasonic for free. Read more

This is a very very nice camcorder, and everything I use on it is optical. I also liked that the low quality video was still very nice. Something I didn't like was when I imported the video into something like windows movie maker, there were lines on the top of the video that looked like a crumpled film in a bad projector, this is fixed with a proper video converter, but still. • proper camcorder functions, expandable memory, large internal memory, battery life seems to get better over time, stereo mic, takes pictures
    • included software is too slow, pictures only go up to 0.3 MP, no picture light, no video light, format isn't video editor friendly, battery sucks at first

The video from this thing reminded me of a toy from Walmart or one of those really lame police videos from TV where you are like WTH kind of ancient security camera was that??? Why did they even install it if you can't see the robbers/murderers/muggers face at all whatsoever. Read more

    • Newegg. They allowed me to confess my mistake of buying this thing and allowed me to exchange it for a nice Canon HD. I really had done no homework and if I would have...
    • Bad picture quality and proprietary video format. But most importantly just plain old pathetic video quality. Spend the extra 200 for a good high def hard drive camera.
  4. Easy to use for a first timer.

This is the first video camera I've ever owned. Easy to use. Just turn it on and your recording. I'll have to do some studying to learn to use the more complex operations of the camera and the included software. I just needed a camera around for those unexpected moments and to record special occassions. This fits the bill for a good price. Read more

I bought this camcorder 3 days ago. The 1st thing that struck me was how small and light it is. 54 hours of recording time, in lowest quality, and 14 hours at best quality is excellent. The AV lead supplied is only L+R + composite video, so not great quality when played back directly on a large screen. BUT... transfer your recordings onto DVD, an easy process with the supplied software, and you'll be amazed at the quality... not far from broadcast standard in my opinion! Read more
