SD-H18 uses the Panasonic’s MPEG2 wide-range, high precision engine, allowing it to capture smooth moving images. The MPEG2 engine records the changes in each frame and renders it faster with superb precision. The MPEG2 engine also uses the Variable Bit Rate system, giving long-playing mode (LP) twice the resolution with previous Panasonic video cameras. SD-H18 also uses the Pure Color engine that achieves superb color reproduction for high-zoomed photos. This engine converts the CCD output signal into an RGB signal, rather than complimentary color signal. Other features include: MagicPix that allows capturing of colored images with minimal lighting, SoftSkin mode with skin beautifying effect that makes skin imperfections like wrinkles, facial lines, and blemishes appear less conspicuous and lighter while preserving the resolution outside of the skin.
