Panasonic PV-GS90 MiniDV 4 I bought this camera first at Best Buy first in order to record a very important event. However, after the event, I noticed, while reviewing the video, that there was a distracting dead pixel (greeen spot always on) right in the middle of the image. We upgraded recently from an old Panasonic VHS camcorder to this digital one. So far we are very happy with our purchase. The video quality in low light conditions is minimal. I just wish I would have asked more questions before I purchased this. The salesman gave me this whole low light enhancer pitch on the camcorder...so automatically I thought it came with an LED light ... like my old one. Wrong! Oh well... These are the characters I looked for before buying this camcorder. The model was suggested by B&H salesman and it turned to be an excellent product. Huge zoom, excellent stabilization, nice grip and reliable. It has capability for taking stills too. I also got a firewire cable to transfer the recorded stuff to my PC. This way I can reuse same mini DV, though it does not cost much. If you are looking for something below $200 I would highly recommend this product. Read more
Optical image stabilization works very well in longer focal lengths. Easy to access manual controls cover the important aspects of recording: focus, white balance, aperture, and shutter speed. There is a completely automatic mode and two manual modes. The first manual mode allows you to control the white balance while the camera takes care of the other settings.
