Summary: I had initially forgotten to review this camera, but I have to mention that if you are looking for an excellently vivid standard definition, but widescreen camera, this has always been one of the most outstanding performers out there.
Summary: We've had 5 of these now for five years with no issues, so we recently purchased a couple of more "used" ones for filming sports. Our guys find easier to handle than our shoulder mount cams, and no issues with the tape loading system.
Summary: PROS * Large 3 CCD produces amazing colored images. * Image Stabilization System does magic * Mini Dv tape has the best transfer rate which needs low video compression. * Mini DV tapes are low cost media * Stereo MIC input
Summary: I'm not interested in technical jargon to tell me if something is supposed to perform for me. I'm only interested in what I see or hear. I purchased this camcorder 3 years ago to use for my media business and general purposes.
Summary: I have this camera and have shot two down-and-dirty amateur documentaries with it. I have found the image to be excellent when compared to lesser "consumer" grade camcorders. My only real complaint with the camera is with the manual focus.
Summary: I bought this camera because I have the earlier model. This one does not do everything that the PV-GS200 does, but it still a great camera. The reviews and evaluations on the camcorder web sites are right on. I will buy Panasonic again, in the future.
Summary: This is an amazing camcorder that produces very close to Broadcast quality video. I would know, I work in the industry. After doing much research, I decided on the Panasonic PV GS500 Mini DV ($699).
