Summary: I am so impressed with this camera. I bought it about 5 years ago at Best Buy's black friday sale for $130. I've wanted to be a filmmaker since I was 13 and this was the first camera that was decent quality and all mine. I did a lot of videos for youtube over the years and recently I've moved onto using DSLRs for most of my stuff yet I still take this camera on every vacation and to most concerts I go to because the audio is EXECELLENT.
Review of Panasonic Palmcorder Multicam PV-GS39 Camcord
2 April 2011
Summary: I use this camera as a tape deck to capture Mini DV tapes, and for this purpose so far it was worked out well. The only drawback is that the battery in the camera seems to last for about an hour. Aside from that, it is a nice little handy cam.
Summary: My little brother got this as a Christmas present 4 years ago, for ME to film him skating. Personally, this camera has changed my life bu inspiring me into film/video making. Many of you though, probably won't be using it for what I was, but mainly for family videos, which is probably what it was designed for. probably one of the best things about this camera, is the audio quality! THe audio quality on this camera is amazing!!!
Summary: I bought this camera a few years ago to film ballgames with and it did a good job. The only thing is that after filming only two seasons of games - 36 games at maybe 45 minutes each - it has gone to the other side. The camera will not come on at all. I sent it to the Panasonic center to see about fixing it and after charging me $45.00 for a diagnostic fee they sent me a letter saying it cost $469.00 to fix it.
Summary: I replaced a PV-GS12 with the PV-GS39 to get the widescreen. This one is easier to use because of the joystick control. Both have similar video quality but the pv-gs12 only had 680k pixels for 4:3 aspect ratio. This one has 800K pixels and gives you full widescreen at 16:9 aspect ratio (Ie, I got what I want). While this is not HD it works quite well in good light. Zoom is more than enough. On board light (and gain up function) help in low light.
