Summary: I bought this item to replace my first pany PVGS 953 and the quality standard dv format and the video is still great but I have move on to HD format but still love to reflect on this era camcorder.
Summary: This is one of the great value in Prosumer cameras. It has outstanding color with its three ccds. It has all the manual controls that are required in a prosumer camera, including headphone outlet, external mic output, zebra patterns, color bars and the very important audio level control.
Summary: When this camera first came out it was $1500. That put in the bracket to be the best prosumer camcorder of the time. I have used this camera for about 7 months and there is not one thing I did not enjoy about.
Summary: I too loved this camera. The features are great However, after 2 yrs the all of the images are green with red lines running thru them on both the video and still photos. I have a friend with a slightly newer camera(I convinced him to buy one also)and it too has the same problem.
Summary: After searching for a very long time I came across a review for the panasonic pv-dv953. I read it throughly and at the end decided this was the camera for me. The price was low and the value was high and it made all the other cameras look pathetic in comparision.
Summary: I have had this camera for about 2 months and to date it has been great with a couple of little niggles. I have captured footage outdoors in fairly bright light and have to say that the performance has been far superior to my old analogue camera, the picture is clearer, the colours are heaps,heaps...
Summary: As the owner of a very similar Panasonic digital camcorder (the PV-DV702), all I have to say is that when everything is working well, this is a great camcorder. Negatives: (1) The heads on these mini-DV digital camcorders are so sensitive that any microscopic particles on the heads will cause the...
Summary: I've never owned a camcorder before, so I have nothing to compare this to. But, it's been an overall good experience for me. The "quick start" in the manual had me shooting movies and stills in no time.
Summary: I have had this video cam for over a year. The picture clarity is the best and it is extremely easy to use. I have had the still pictures developed at Costco/Walmart and they rival any good digital camera. I have created many a family movie with Microsoft's free movie maker software.
Summary: I recently purchased this camera from a company in New York for less than 1600 US. The deal included shipping and a ton of extras (pro pack it was called). Anyhow, aside from the lousy manual and useless software, the camera is fantastic.
