Panasonic PV-DV53D Camcorder

robby1buy, Ebay
25 January 2011
  • Summary: This is the second Panasonic PV-DV53 I have acquired - the first one, I believe was stolen. Even though I have the option of using our Flip Ultra or Canon HD camera I still like the simplicity and video quality of the PV-DV53 for home movies. Versus HD video files, you don't need a super computer for editing, as long as you keep movies short but meaningful(the PV-DV53's format is standard definition - clear productions with proper shooting techniques).

An older style palmcorder, but one of the best!

imm_strawberryeggs, Ebay
15 December 2010
  • Summary: MiniDVs are not very popular right now, but the format will be around for a long time with some highend cameras recording in HD using the format. This palmcorder is easy to use and very rugged, easly being the best performing palmcorder that I've used. Compared to canon, and sharp models I've used in the past, this model has the best color reproductions and clarity. With no ghosting or artifactis in it's recording.

Back up camera

ryvac1, Ebay
6 September 2009
  • Summary: I just got this for a capture cam. I only use it for camputering minidv tapes. I got this because the battery charger is aslo capable for charging my dvx/hvx batterys. also works as an a/c adapter for dvx/hvx. so I don't use this as an camera. it's just my back up tool. but works good!

Read carefully

koshi824, Ebay
28 July 2009
  • Summary: I've read through the discription, and no where was there any mention of possible problem with recording onto tape. The camera powered up and functions all worked, it was just that when you went to record there was "banding" and luckily I was able to get a copy of the manual. There was a slight problem with the recording head of the camera. It appeared to be some kind of residue that prevented clean recording.

  • Summary: I saw this item late, but I new of this camera from past use. the camera is a steady, low lux proformer by the lights mounting in front.Even new cameras struggle with night filming,at medium range this camera brings clarity to dark or blackened subject area. This price was that of a external hand held lamp. Thanks for the decent price.

Great quality but ate tapes

youlostifound, Ebay
15 May 2008
  • Summary: Picture and sound quality is great. However I* did have problems after a couple of years with it eating tapes. There must be a type of roller problem as I have heard of it happening to others. I did purchase another in slightly used condition and hope it will hold up.

  • Summary: This is a good camera. It gives an excellent picture, better than a lot of the brand new ones we looked at, and allows everything to be downloaded to the computer easily. It is simple to use and good quality.
