Summary: A real workhorse of a mini DV camera. I have aired (broadcast) many pieces of video shot on this camera! Battery life was low...until I bought a spare (larger) battery. I have had mine for almost 10 years and it still works great!
Summary: I bought one of these Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV400s in 2000 to do some simple recording around the house, and with its external microphone jack capability, I was able to use this camera for some work recording as well. I have been extremely pleased with the quality of the camera, but about a year ago I started having problems with some serious digital artifacts showing up every time I recorded anything.
Summary: This camera is a great deal for the price. Light enought to be used by anyone. Excellent video quality and if our looking for low-light capability this camera is 'superb'. Also... the sound is very good, and it's very easy to use right out of the box. I would recommend a high-capacity battery but the standard battery will work well for over an hour.
Summary: This camera is:
Small enought to take it anywhere
Excelent video quality
Takes pictures into the MiniDV tape
Also... the sound is very great, and it's steady system is one of the best from all the cameras I've been using for the last 5 years. The only bad thing is the original battery, which only holds up to an hour of intense recording. Also the recharging time is a little slow comparing it to a sony or cannon camcorder.
Summary: This is a great little camera, for a great price. One problem I never thought about when first started looking for a Camcorder was, how well does it fit in my hand. Initially I wanted that little Sony, like the kid had in American Beauty, but when I went try it out it was only a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes and my hand just swallowed it.
