Summary: As a historian I needed a reasonably priced and good camera to record oral histories and this camera filled the bill. I can't say enough about the picture quality. I had to look around to acquire an adequate wireless mic for remote recordings - found it - and I am pleased with the results.
Summary: I do not see any difference from this SILVER (Japanese Model) and the actual HDC-TM300-K (made for USA). I have looked at every single aspect and the numbers/specifications are the same. I was scare in buying this one over the black model because in all internet reviews the one that appears is the TM300-K so I thought they were different in quality. Not to mention the over $400 in price difference...
Summary: Pro: Size, Look, Feel, Easy to use, software, Day time Picture quality. love the option for flash memory and hard drive memory selection. Con: Still phote quality is not good as regular 3.0 maga pixle camera. (of course) Night or indoor lighting shots' picture quality is not good as expected.
Summary: Great HD sharpness and color when viewed on a HD TV via a HDMI cable (not included). Get the cable on ebay ( $6 ). Like others have said the switch to turn the camcorder on and change modes is poorly designed. The touch screen is a bit "sensitive" for fat fingers (loose some weight) but works fine. I rated this camcorder excellent based mostly on outstanding video "Quality"!
Summary: When it comes to spend money I have to be sure I will get something back, it may be money in return or satisfaction. Well this camcorder has giving me both, I had used it for a year and a half and during this period I have gone to several pleasure trips (Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, etc) and now I have those great memories inside my PC and also into edited DVDs, additionally I have sell several documental about the naturals resources of Puerto Rico.
