Summary: Top cons: sub-par still pictures(can't compare to D-SLR), not easy to shoot (open the panel first). I would not recommend this to friends - bought this as a gift, and they used it only occasionally. For what it is priced (bought at $550, now probably still $300), doesn't worth it at all!
Summary: Regular quality camcorder. It makes average quality pictures and video, but for the price they sold it meets these expectations. The only complain I have is it does not come with any memory card, and it is absolutely required.
Summary: This is after 2 years use. This is not as good as my previous Sony. The picture is fine, but sound from built in mic is not as good as the Sony; use of an external mic is why I picked the model but it has proved difficult to get the balance of sound right for acoustic music using the recommended Panasonic mic. It also has started to steam up behind the lends when cold, just after guarantee has expired.
Summary: From a technical viewpoint the HDC-SD90 offers an as expected good quality HD picture for the price bracket. Yes, it helps if you have small fingures when selecting items on the touch screen, but then the camera is small so what do you expect? The biggest drawback is the Battery. The supplied battery gives 1 hour use at best (when new).
