Worst editing software and instruction manual ever
18 February 2012
Summary: The camera itself is fine. The editing software (HD Writer AE) and the camera's instruction manual are the most confusing things I've ever read...and I'm pretty good when it comes to electronics. I'm writing this review after spending the last hour trying to figure out how to transfer my video to a DVD. Sounds like it should be simple, right? Not with this camera. If I could do it again, I'd look for another option. It's just not worth the aggravation.
The Camera is Great; The Editing Software is HORRIBLE

Summary: I love this camera. The easy of use and quality is awesome. BUT because the editing software is SOOOOO BAD I would not recommend purchasing this camera. Which is very unfortunate because the camera itself is great. If you are willing to pay the money to purchase a separate editing software then go ahead and get the camera. Otherwise, I'd check into Canon. Their cameras are very nice and their editing software is much much better.
Summary: Not sure if this happened only to me or for others too. Panasonic SD90 sometimes showed "error occurred, stop and start again" message and I was even unable to power off the camcorder that times. Only way was to remove the battery. After putting the battery back, it showed "recovering the data" message and it took very long time to become available for recording again. This problem happened so many times. Couldn't find any help in Google about this error.
Good HD camcorder, but software incompatible with Windows 7

Summary: HD resolution certainly looks much better than the output from my old Digital-8 SD camcorder. The 1920x1080/60p resolution is too taxing (choppy) for my computer to play back even with VDPAU enabled on my Nvidia card, so I can only play back on the camcorder itself. Oddly, 1920x1080/60p output files from the Sony HDR-CX160 High-Definition Handycam Camcorder (Black) play back fine on the same computer.
