Panasonic HDC-SD9 – Compact and light weight camcorder

etechreviews.net
11 December 2010
  • Excerpt: Panasonic HDC-SD9 has a low price, compact and eye-catching design. This device is a good buy if you are looking for a AVCHD camcorder based on flash technology. The device weighs just 11.7 ounces along with the battery and it is 3.6 inches long. I can confidently say that this is one of the lightest and smallest full size camcorders I have ever seen to date. Shooting with it is really comfortable too.

First Impressions Do Not Tell the Whole Story: Panasonic HDC-SD9 Camcorder

Personal Electronics buzz
11 August 2009
  • Excerpt: I really like the Panasonic HDC-SD9 from the moment I set my eyes on it. An HD camcorder that can fit in the palm of my hand and weighs less than ¾-pound. It knocked me out with first impressions. The appearance, SD slot, USB and HDMI output was exactly what I was looking for in a camcorder. The problems surfaced when I took it out for test drive.

Panasonic HDC-SD9 review

best4reviews.com
12 March 2009
  • Summary: The Panasonic HDC-SD9 is small and perfectly formed, but appears more a triumph of design and engineering over performance - meaning that there are models out there (JVC's GZ-HD3) that will deliver better overall results for a similar price or a little bit more (£100+ in the case of the JVC).
  • Pros: Small yet well constructed, fast in operation, storage capacity expandable via larger SDHC media, easy to use and can be carried in the pocket
  • Cons: Storage via SD media only, picture and audio not as impressive as competing larger build models

Panasonic HDC-SD9-8GB

PC Magazine
14 January 2009
  • Conclusion: This camcorder is small and lightweight, but its video quality is below par.
  • Pros: Small form factor. Extremely lightweight. Dolby Digital 5.1 recording. Face detection.
  • Cons: Video quality is not as sharp as the competition. Struggles to adjust white balance when lighting changes. Mild purple fringing. Editing software is primitive. HDMI port is poorly placed.

Panasonic HDC-SD9

LAPTOP Magazine
1 April 2008
  • Excerpt: Recently, Panasonic has made some of the best prosumer camcorders on the market, so we were excited to try the SD9, a tiny, three-CCD camera able to record 1080i video (1920 x 1080) to SD cards. While this 9.7-ounce device seems like the ideal pocket bargain, the awful physical design choices and middling video left us hungry for a beefier camera that was easier to use and more capable on the video front.
  • Pros: Good physical shape and weight, Vibrant video colors,
  • Cons: Generally poor video performance, Terrible button and port placement,
