The Juice, Amazon

  • Summary: Don't use it that much or at an advanced level, but it is light and compact, and has worked fine for several years (more than I can say about past camcoders!

broke in a few month

lehehe, Amazon
1 June 2012
  • Summary: only after a few month gentle usage, it can not focus at all, and also keep giving me error message and force the unit to shut down, very disappointing. Sent the unit back to Panasonic, they said parts are covered but labor not. So I have no choice to pay $110 to fix it. Will not buy this brand.

A great camera, but how much does it weigh?

E.D.S "budget consumer", Amazon
17 April 2012
  • Summary: I've had this camera for a while now (mostly used for family events), but will start shooting web videos with it in a few weeks. It is worth noting if you are looking to buy a stedicam for it (like the flycam) pay no attention to the Panasonic website or literature that pegs the camera's weight at a paltry 1 lb. According to my scale -- the camera weighs at least 13 lbs. With battery we're talking 12 - 15 lbs. CNET's review seems to agree with my scale.

Good Camera

Aggie13, Amazon
4 April 2012
  • Summary: Good camera. The files that it stores are in .mkv, so if you plan on using it for shooting movies, you will need to get a convertor software of some kind.

Great Almost Pro Camera!

RayPowell, CNET
19 January 2012
  • Summary: I had been waiting a long time to find a camera with high visual fidelity without all of the consumer oriented junk that comes with most home cameras, and this is it. I will go from the most annoying problems/features, and move up from there.
  • Pros: + 3 CMOS sensors an excellent job at color accuracy, + Exposure controls are easy to adjust, + Zoom works great, + 30 FPS makes motion look very good, + Motion stabilization is astounding! The hybrid stabilization is wonderful, + Wind filter works great
  • Cons: - Lack of accurate auto color balance, - Poor auto exposure

There is only one memory

zhaoxa, Amazon
7 December 2011
  • Summary: I bought the item because I was interested in 3 MOS technology and twin memory. But when I received it, I can't find twin-memory. There is only one memory in the Camcorder. I asked amazon and they delivered me another one. The new one was same as the old one. I emailed amazon and asked why. They told me they were just the retailer and asked me to contact with Panasonic. There is no answer from Panasonic.

  • Summary: This is actually my first full fledged camcorder along with the HDC-SD900 model which I bought for some projects i am involved with. These cameras are THE BOWSE. I dont think anyone can go wrong with it. Memory management is key especially when taping in HD.

No 1080p support with Apple Mac OS/iMovie

Greg, Amazon
14 October 2011
  • Summary: I'm not a prof. videographer by any means. Coming from using a Sony Mini-DVD camcorder from about 3.5 years ago, this is a fantastic upgrade! With that disclosure, I'm very happy with it so far. The clarity is amazing and general ease of use is great. I haven't tried taking any photos, so I have no comment on that functionality. I'll focus my feedback on the Apple Mac issue.

Poor sound volume from camera

Ed, Amazon
3 October 2011
  • Summary: We left on our trip the day after the camera arrived. I recorded a presentation and played it back that night. I could just barely hear the sound volume from the camera. I contacted Panasonic tech support which worked me through some changes. It helped somewhere if you're in a quite aria you could hear the sound from the camera. After transferring to DVD the sound is good but NOT FROM THE CAMERA. Panasonic help was POOR.
