Summary: Out of box, the LCD did not work. Of course Amazon is great at returns, but are currently out of stock, so my only option was a refund from them. I really wanted to have this unit though, so I went to the Panasonic web site to see if they had a walk-in service center where I could get a replacement. When I put in the model number(HDC-SD600P) that was on the unit, it said no such model existed in the US. In fact there is no listing of any unit in the 600 range.
Summary: The camera records quite a bit grainy indoors. The AVCHD format is very difficult to convert without DIVX software that takes a long time. VLC and Splash and all other programs stutter when playing the AVCHD 1080p. So you can basically not use the higher definition setting on this camera. The battery sticks out quite a bit. You cannot charge the battery at the same time as using the AC adapter to camera.
Summary: The camera itself is great - 5 stars. I'm writing this review to highlight that the transfer and editing software does not work. The panasonic website states: "About HD Writer AE 2.1: This software is not compatible with a multi-boot environment. Operation is not guaranteed with 64 bit editions of Windows® XP and Windows Vista®. Operation is not guaranteed on Windows XP Media Center Edition, Tablet PC Edition, Windows Vista Enterprise or Windows 7 Enterprise.
