Summary: I bought this camera with the dvd burner but I never got the dvd burner. Even though I called Amazon and they told me that they send it. But the camera itself is amazing. I'm a sound and video technician at a curch and this is a really good camera to record the sermons. I recomend to buy another SD card.
Summary: Early days yet but but I feel I should just point out a major flaw. Spare Batteries are hard to find and I called Panasonic UK for a price. I was shocked to learn £88. This is just pure greed as they know only they currently do it. Give it a few months and you will hopefully get a compatible but until that Panasonic have you by the short and curlys and they intend to squeeze hard. Long term they will sell less.
Summary: I have extensive video experience with consumer, prosumer and broadcast equipment, so my opinions will be a little more critical than an "average" video consumer. Pros: Small size, uses SDHC cards instead of tape or hard drives, price/performance ratio is reasonable, well over 2 hours of footage at maximum resolution on a 16GB SDHC card (I was able to buy one for under $100 online).
Great HD Camera, But HDV Format May Be Better for Now

Summary: This is an outstanding camera both in convenience and picture quality, however if you're looking for a fast editing platform you may want to hold off and get an HDV cam like the Canon HV20. I bought one of these to supplement my Sony HDV camera. I purchased it because I was looking for something a little more portable that would let me edit clips quickly and easily on the road with my Macbook. This is where this new platform falls short.
Summary: Panasonic HDC-SD5 High Definiton SD Card Camcorder - Silver I bought this HD camcorder in Feb.2008 and have been trying to get to grips with it ever since. Firstly, the size. Small, fits in the palm of your hand with adjustable strap. That's fine in itself but you soon find out that you need a stable support (tripod, wall or someone's shoulder) for a lot of shots.

Summary: I have just bought this camera a week ago and I am still having problem editing my footage. In fact i havent even seen my footage on my computer yet! The files captured on to the SDHC card are .mts format which is not a friendly format in most editing softwares. I'm having problems importing my footage in to Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 which Apple claim supports the format and converts it to Apple ProRes 422 codec for editing using the log and transfer window, but i dont seem to...
Excerpt: A review of the new Panasonic HDC-SD5EG-K, a digital camcorder. SUMMARY: 1) DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT 2) APPEARANCE 3) DURABILITY 4) RECORDING 5) LENS 6) DISPLAY 7) FEATURES 8) ACCESSORIES 9) OVERALL DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT: This camera is the world's smallest 3CCD High Definition Camcorder, and it's also extremely light, weighing in at less than most of its competitors at 340g. APPEARANCE: Disappointing. It's just a regular, black camcorder design - only small.
Pros: Durability, intelligent design, advanced OS system eliminates shakes, good accessories
Cons: Easy to be ripped off, not always in stock, overhyped, few unsual features
Summary: Der Camcorder ist für schnelle Aufnahmen von den Kindern vollkommen ausreichend. Bildqualität ist i.O.
